The old town of Angostura, now Ciudad Bolívar, is the capital of Venezuela’s south-eastern Bolivar State. It lies at a spot where the Orinoco River narrows to about one mile in width, and is the site of the first bridge across the river. Amargo Aromatico, now commonly known as Angostura Bitters, was created in 1824 by one Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert, a German doctor working for the armies of Simon Bolivar.

Paying homage to bitters of days gone by this bottling is a welcome addition to Dr. Elmegirab’s bottle line and are in demand around the globe to be used in a number of classic cocktails and original libation.
